Have you guys noticed the crazy prices for stuff and services, at least on gokunming.
The absolut highlight is that greedy peterjackson wintercamp jacka**.
For 30 days of camp you will earn an amazing 4500RMB (18rmb/h)and thats after he already raised it from his original 2500 RMB.
What a greedy jerk.. I wonder if anyone is stupid or desperate enough to take the offer.
But even better are those foreign guys trying to buy second hand stuff that is literally more expensive than bought brand new. Or in the best case a few buck cheaper than new.
What the heck?
Computers, video game consoles, furniture, guitars, mountain bikes...you name it.
I get it, people have to make a living but really, is it necessary to rip others off. The best is most of those sellers are probably freaking out paying 5mao for parking and othertiny fees.
I'm not ranting but I think it's amazing how different it is from other cities in China even the ones with a small expat community, like in kunming.
What about you guys have you noticed it, too?
Agree, its pretty silly most of it, I view pretty much everything advertised on GoKM as "price for mugs". I mean I can buy a brand new iPad mini off taobao for less than 2k yet you want to sell me a refurbished 1 yo one for 2400? I'LL TAKE IT!
only few foreigners know how to buy something in taobao, and majority can't distinguish fake one or genuine one, so i may recommend tmall.com.
@Kevinkm
True not everyone is taobao savy or knows how to buy it around town. But that makes it even worse...people takung advantage of it. Plus nobody knows if the 2nd hand stuff is real or fake...anyway far overpriced, real or fake.
Thats why i recommend to ask a chinese friend to help if language is a problem. If not foreigners will rip you off worse than locals. Lol
agree on this horrible no conscience individual. they should be burn with their crazy mentality
i understand they hope to sell it at the best price possible but its second hand or probably their trash even
Many will usually try to find the local expat website to sell their stuff at an inflated price, because well... it's an expat website.
That's why this website was created:
taobaofieldguide.com/
Taobao/tmall are really easy to use.
The so called ex-pat community in Kunming is a joke at best. No real support or concern. When I first came here from living in Beijing and Shanghai I was surprised at how stand-offish and rude the foreigners were here. I have become one of those foreigners here now who do not say hello, but not because I hate other foreigners, but because I got tired of being ignored or looked at disdainfully. Very strange. I would totally expect foreigners to rip each other off here.
I would find it strange to feel obliged to say hello to someone simply because I thought he or she was not Chinese.
The foreigners I hang out with here are quite supportive! Who are you referring to, zhulaoye, the nightclub set?
Were the BJ & SH foreigners different from those you meet here?
