All in all, not bad.. It's no Portland.. but it's not Kansas City either..
It is culturally different than the West. We foreigners have to accept it, if we want to live here.

Of course it's different... who pays for a plane ticket to another country for things to be the same? This is just an assessment of the city so far from my view..I'm a realist..So I'm not going to be oblivious to the things I see..It's not a diamond city..It's just another Chinese city with stuff for foreigners to do and have easy access to things that remind them of home.. that's it..

Kansas city is actually pretty awesome, just saying.
@Karina17, they start having dinner at that time and leave all their work duties. I once went to a group of policemen in Beichen to report a bloody beating happening a hundred meters away and they said: "OK, but we will go have a look later. We are having dinner now."
City shuts down at 5.47 and opens up again at about 7.00.
Eat, nap, then majong or back to work.
