the site's going downhill?
1 - the travel blogs are great.
2 - there's some good useful articles about what's going on in yunnan.
3 - there's no trash journalism.
overall, i think it's a good site.

Having lived in 4 other chinese cities which had absolutely no expat information available i really appreciate this site, especially when you consider it cost us nothing.
as has been said MANY times, this site could really do with a 'REPORT' or 'SPAM' button. the last 7 or so posts in the forums are clearly spam and have been there for a few hours now. i am grateful for GoKunming but the level of spam is getting silly. so much for authentication. or how about moderating/vetting posts from new users before they go live?
I think the site is solid for what it is. I do though think that the Rugby should have been given a larger play on the website considering that it was only the second rugby match in Kunming, that there are only 1 or 2 matches a year in Kunming and that Chengdu brought a large contingent down here. The 2 rugby matches were the only time that two predominantly expat teams have played in the last decade in Kunming. It was also played in Tuodong Stadium and was a great time to see a lot of different expats from Kunming and Chengdu. At least a blurb that Kunming had their first victory and to show the Kunming community different things that are going on would have sufficed. The rugby team just started last year and I think that it's important for Gokunming to report on these endeavors. Keep up the good work. By the way no bars will get together and form a website. I will believe it when I see it.
the level of spam today/tonight is crazy. PLEASE take action soon... I know that you gokunming guys work hard and you've invested a lot in this site and it would be a shame to see all that wasted. i agree too that the rugby could have been given more space and publicity for the reasons mentioned above. thanks to the staff for the site that this is and i hope it can be improved and develop.
Disclaimer: I am the captain of the Kunming rugby team
Thanks for the comments bad boy and debaser. For the record the Flying Tigers did approach Gokunming for a story before the match which they turned down on the grounds that it was repetitive.
It was down to us I guess, to report on the result of the match (26-7 to Kunming) afterward and I put my hand up in not doing so - probably because I spent the following week recovering.
Sean1 Blobbles only mentioned rugby as an example to start the thread but anyway, two stories from the last game in March (first ever match in the city and its result) are the sum total of rugby coverage on Gokunming. You're right in saying that I should have posted in the forums or classifieds even if it was picked up
If its sport, travel, environental news, food, politics or yes, even macrame I'm happy to hear about it. Like many others I found employment and entertainment and even started the rugby team on gokunming so all in all its a great service.
