Funnily enough if you see how incredibly dedicated hardcore Trekkies are to the stories and worlds created by Roddenberry, you could argue that he's created another religion just like any other - - - and presumably made a lot of money in the process.
Congratulations, onlyone, I was about to give up on Godwin's law before you showed up.

My heart hurts for those of you whose own hearts and minds are filled with anger and hatred. It's a scary thing to see people fling insults, not only at God's people, but at God himself. And it's worse than scary to see someone fling insults at the Holy Spirit—the one unpardonable sin. (Take note, people.)
But these are the very things that Jesus said would happen in the end times. Jesus said he came to create division among people—father would rise up against son, brother against brother, etc. Yes, many (if not most) wars are fought on religious grounds. Maybe that's because the stakes are highest where people's souls are concerned. (Even so, just because wars are waged in the name of religion [usually Chrisianity], that doesn't make it authentic—look at Ireland: does anyone really believe that "Protestants" and "Catholics" murdering each other is legitimate Christian behavior? That flies in the face of Scripture, as does much of what so-called Christians do. Jesus said we would know them by their fruits.)
It has always seemed idiotic and incredibly ignorant to me that Christians are often made out to be the bad guys in a world filled with sin. Several people on this thread bemoan that Christians have come to China to spread their religion, rather than just coming to do good for the Chinese people. They wonder why Christians don't just stay home to preach to themselves.
However, preaching the Gospel to the world is practically a commandment, and those who "go into all the world" will certainly receive just rewards at the Judgment Seat of Christ. Not that such rewards are their motivation. Their motivation is the love of Christ. Love for everyone...including you who despise them for doing it.
At some point, everyone is going to confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, even those who die rejecting Him—only, for them it will be too late. Just so you know.

Being "religious" doesn't make one a true Christian. It's a pathetic thing when someone has to go to the Catholic Church to find an example of Christian behavior.

If you really believe in Christ as a God or a lord has a power .If you believe that he knows what we write here .If he can do any thing for bad or good .Ask him To show his power to show his sign to me ask him to show his mercy and generous when every thing just black .For my sorrow i would not think he could and for more the worst people i met here are the people of Christ .Specially the people you brought From Africa to help you preaching .I wanna see A religion on people not a people of religion who just carry the name .I wanna see people live for others, acting without waiting reward or money form church behind for every converted Chinese .
I so want to say something, but daddy always told us kiddies, no talk of sex, politics or religion at the dinner table.
Amusing enough though. Carry on.
Oh and PS. since we're so off topic. Nice new design GoKunming peoples!
Just some thoughts from a non believer. Why do most Missionaries always try to tell us about the one day, when we will learn the real truth? Do I have to be scared now? Sometimes I just want to reply that they one day might find out it was all a waste of time and energy believing in something what doesnt exist, but I try not to be that arrogant.
When I hear opinions like
"At some point, everyone is going to confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, even those who die rejecting Him—only, for them it will be too late. Just so you know."
all I ask myself is why are there so many narrow minded people out there. Why do they have problems in accepting other opinions.
Most "non believers" I know dont bother other people with their non believing. I like that. If people believe or not is a personal thing, why bother others with it?
Just open your minds sometimes and accept that there are different people in the world. Large number of them dont believe in god. They live peacefully, are nice and tolerant to their neighbours and do good things in the world. Why cant you just leave them living like this?
JJ wrote: "there is a God. I speak from personal experience" Good for you. I once saw a ghost, also a personal experience. But do I run now around the world and convince people to believe in ghosts? No. What would be the advantage of that? Lots of scared people maybe.
And JJ, I know you are no missionary.
Anyway, just some of my thoughts.
Perhaps, sanyiseul, the ghost you saw was the holy ghost.
Wow, such a war going on.
It is extremely obvious that neither 'camp' really understands the other or their motives.
And unfortunately, no-one is going to change anyone else's opinion here on the internet.
If you are really interested to understand 'the other side', then sit down with one of them and discuss it - calmly.
But this blustering here is of no point, and just embarrassing to the whole expat community.
Neither is there any point to try to have some sort of competition to claim whose motives are the most pure and altruistic. Just look in your own heart, and you can at least discover the truth about yourself. But you can't see anyone else's heart, so don't bother trying to imagine on your own what their motives are.
Actually both 'camps' of the expat community need each other. Many of our businesses would not survive without foreign customers from all walks of life. So why can't we respect each other?
Because wouldn't it be a pity to lose either Salvadore's OR Wicker Basket.
this match of God vs no God, whos the referee?
it seems, we are the referee, the player and the spectator all in one. we just watch and comment on each other's ugly backsides but we ignore the real match of "God vs no God" on the screen which is a complete blank anyway or gone missing. hahahhahah, interesting sport?!
come on, I want the penalty kick right now, find the ball first now once for all.
are we there yet? are we there yet, mum? are we...are we? hahahahha
