I am dying to buy some magazines in English,, anything like National Geographic or Time or well,, anything you can keep at home and read more than once. If you know where to buy some I'd be much obliged.

If you check Mandarin Bookstore on foreigners street there might be some magazines there too, although they are quite expensive.

It seems that kunming has few book stores to sell this kind of stuff....really hard to buy one~~~if you trust me i can help you buy these newspapers and magazines in beijing and sent to you~~~just not that convenient....
National Geographic is available in English at a lot of magazine kiosks around town.
Mandarin Books sometimes has Time, Economist and Newsweek, though the supply is sporadic. List prices hover around 60-80 kuai, which is actually the list price, not some scam by the management.
I make a point of stocking up every time I pass through a tier 1 city. You can usually find some international newspapers and mags at the Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai airports
