Are there any fitness gyms fairly near to wenlin area? Preferably with decent weightlifting equipment.

Do the Universities have them? do you have to go to the university to use it?

I've got a different address on Taoyuan Lu. Anyone know if the place is at either location. I lifted at the Guofang Jianshenyuan back in 1990. Curious to see if He Bao Min is still around. A guy at the Bird and Flower Market indicated he is.

There is a fitness gym near sometype of stadium not far from YNNU, maybe a little more than a 1/4 of a mile.

I went there when I was in Kunming. They had decent (but old) weightlifting equipment (barbells, dumbells, machines, benches, etc).

They even sell chocolate protein powder there.

It's amazing that I was able to find the place considering my Chinese is bu hao.

I think the name of the gym is called the "I love sports gym."

5th (6th?) floor, Baishen mall @ Renmin zhong Rd.

Local guys told me that is almost the best gym house in Kunming, however I have never been there before...
