Thanks for the contributions! This the list (so far) compiled for subway stops from the north to the south:
Linyuqiao Zhan
Calmette International Hospital and Sanford Pediatric Clinic at exit B.
Walmart
Beichen Dadao Zhan
Prague Cafe, Irish Bar (O'Reilly's), Metro, Wicker Basket, KFC, Pizza Hut, Burger King.
Kunming Huoche Zhan
Yunnan Railway Museum, French Street and Flower market (Lianmeng Lu). Best Baozi on the corner of Lianmeng and Beijing roads at Shanghai Tangbao.
Chuanxin Gulou Zhan
On Doufuchang there is a dog meat restaurant. Sometimes there is a street market on the square near Panlong River. Louguang Street has old two storey brick and tiled buildings painted a rusty red colour. This area is an old hutong and a rare sight in Kunming. The riverside walk here is quite pleasant.
Jiaosanqiao Zhan
Humdinger Bar for live music. Golden eagle Shopping Plaza & Hotel with a H&M store.
Bird and Flower Market. Alei Lounge Bar. McDonalds.
For families w. kids:
-Parkson Mall playcenter inside the arcade is the best and cleanest so far. There is a baby supply shop with free delivery service. behind the chunsheng shopping mall. opposite the pappa johns and kfc, next (a few doors south) to the muslim place. The old Jinniu Jie Mosque is located at 57 Jiangbin Xi Lu.
Huancheng Nanlu Zhan
The Vietnamese consulate is in a building called Hongta Dasha.
Erji Lu Zhan
Myanmar and Laos consulates.
Nanbu Keyun Zhan
South coach station with buses going to Jinghong, Mengla, Mohan and other places southwest-ish.
