Chinese National Day will be celebrated in a somewhat non-traditional way this year in southern Yunnan. The second incarnation of the Puzhehei Warm Spring Music Festival will begin October 1 amidst the Karst mountains of Puzhehei (普者黑).
Coming six months after the inaugural Puzhehei Warm Spring Music Festival, this edition features some of the top bands from Kunming while also bringing in heavy-hitters from Bangkok, Chengdu and Zhengzhou.
Special guests include a mix of performers showcasing varied musical styles. Two solo jazz singers will grace the stage — Yunnan's own Huang Xibei (黄夕倍) and Da Chunzi (大春子) from Henan. They will be joined at the festival by Thai actor and pop star PCHY (aka Pitch).
Longtime Chengdu rockers Ashura (阿修罗) are scheduled to appear following up their July show at Qimijiu Bar. Eighteen Yunnan-based bands are also slated to perform at the festival, which runs from October 1 through October 3.
In addition to the festival, local musicians and dancers will put on several traditional performances. There will also be an outdoor bazaar featuring handcrafts, food stalls and a bar. Boat rentals will be available for lake cruises and the final day of the event will feature Dragon Boat races and a bonfire.
