taking a vacation wasn't worth the chance of returning to a home quarantine. it looks like we will open tomorrow with limited hours and limited seating with hopes to expand on both later this week. though kris and i will have to be the enforcers of the new rules.
we have had enough friends going to Thailand the last few days who have had no problems on the Thai side. Now it is coming back to Kunming that seems to have upped the rules.
Does anyone know somebody returning from Thailand today? It seems Kunming has extended enforced quarantines for those coming from Thailand. We leave for ten days to Thailand tomorrow and will cancel if it is confirmed.
FYI, Salvador's Coffee House and Mosaic Bistro will both be closed January 24th, but open for the rest of the holiday from 10:30 am to 10:30 pm. We will go back to normal hours February 2nd. Cheers
I had a sneak preview of some of the art going on display tomorrow and there some impressive works going on the wall. I'd suggest getting there at 4 to see the fashion show and get first dibs on art pieces. Sandra's treats too will be worth making the trip.
wasn't cheap. at 50 per kilo(living weight), organic wild boar costs about 3 times that of normal pork. i had lofty goals of turning a profit on it, but now just making back a good chunk of the cost would be great. regardless, the experience was worth it. hopefully, one day in the not too distant future, we'll have our own brand of organic fine meats.
thanks for the comments guys... if anyone is interested in trying out some sausages, you can get them at salvador's for 80 per 6-link package. hopefully bacon will be available soon and salami and prosciutto later next year. cheers
I'm leaving this review for one of my staff. She just return from Dali and fell in love with this little restaurant in Dali. Very nice owners cooking up delicious and healthy Chinese cuisine with an open kitchen and local "organic" ingredients. I'll have to try it out myself next time.
I'm disappointed in myself for even considering giving this place another chance. I wanted to give my 4-month old a chance to see some live animals and I was sure that there was no way that the Kunming Zoo was as bad as it was 15 years ago. Somehow it was worse. It's disgraceful that with all of the changes that this city has undergone in the last two decades that this zoo still lacks any sense of decency or morality.
At nailer and tallamerican, I'm sorry to hear about your recent experiences. We wash everything with purified water and make all of our food fresh daily from whole ingredients in order to avoid any problems. We will review our procedures to assure that we continue to provide the safest and healthiest menu options possible. I hope you'll give us another try and I'd be happy to buy you a coffee if you are around any morning.
@GoKunming, it would be nice if there was a zero star option for reviews so that business owners can contribute without having to rate ourselves. I kind of feel like a d-bag giving myself stars 1-5. For some reason I settled on 4 as the least douchey ;).

Posted byJust when I thought that this fundraiser couldn't get any better, it did. Sandra has signed on to handle food and drinks for the event.
