Forums > Living in Kunming > GoKM Saying and Doing I remember I was watching the movie Marco Polo a while back. The Great Khan was contemplating an attack on Japan and a Japanese spy told him that although the Japanese were always fighting each other that they will join together if China attacked. Needless to say his advice was not heeded and the Khan lost the fight from the start and the Japanese were victorious.
In the same way, I recall many battles among the members of this forum, but it seems very clear that when an outsider comes into this community and PRETENDS to act like a member he/she/they will be quickly dealt with.
As has been mentioned here earlier by others, it is not the disagreements or fights that bother me - it is the gatekeeping and desire for censorship that really gets under my skin.
I cherish my GK account and I admit I have taken things too far on more than a few occassions.
A few months ago I received a PM from the GK staff with a very direct warning. I was thankful for the warning because I would not have given a warning if I was running the show so I appreciate their patience and understanding.
I admit that I enjoy the entertainment portion of this forum but I also learn a lot from other members here. I do not want to lose my account and after 6 years of having the SAME account I do not want to risk losing it at this late stage of the game.
The other members of this forum are NOT crazy or imagininig things. There are SOME people who continually keep coming back with new accounts. Although their account is brand new they speak on certain topics with exclusive knowledge and history but they pretend to be new.
For the REAL new members, I apologize on behalf of others if you were erroneously called MATT or MATT-like. Please understand that we have been members of this forum for more than a few years and we do not like those people coming here to play GAMES with US - our community.
I am happily married to a beautiful, sexy woman (Who I do NOT beat or abuse) and I love my life here in China. I dont need a NEWBIE to tell me not to complain or report taxis because those newbies have not lived in China nor Kunming for 12 years like I have or even longer for a few other members have.
Keep in mind, this is the internet, it is all make believe, it is not real. If you do not beleive me then just turn off the computer and it will all go away. My wife, my family, my freinds, the people around me are real, not this forum. Come here to learn, to get info, or to be entertained - thats all.
Good luck to all - old and new members - play nice!

Posted byKunming's air is much better than having chemtrails dumped on you from above.
Kunming ranks fifth nationally in expat poll
Posted byLike all surveys - this survey is biased and inconclusive. Unless the people interviewed have at least visited the cities that were on the survey - this survey is completely useless. At least Kunming got a good rating.
Metro Line 1 begins passenger trial period
Posted byIt is nice to look back at old articles and see how far we have moved forward. It is great to live in China.
Jianshui: southern Yunnan's cultural gem
Posted byThere are 4 more bridges worth visiting.
Tian Yuan Bridge in Ma Jun Village (Not far from the new Train Station).
Xiang Hui Bridge in Xiang Hui Village. There is also the old Xiang Hui Qiao Train Station.
Jian Long Qiao in Ma Jia Ying Village.
Finally, there is the Da Xin Bridge in Qujiang. There is a train station here now but I have not visited this bridge since the new train station has opened. This bridge is about 40 km north of Jian Shui Old Town.
