Hi... I'm new to Kunming, and shipping household items here from my last post. Can anyone recommend a customs clearance agent here in Kunming???

You may be better trying to find a customs clearance agent at the port of entry (Shanghai, Guangzhou). There is more chance that they will know what they are doing.
Or if you can, get all the paperwork done by the shipping company, provided you have not already sent.

It may look cheaper to not use one of the forwarding companies like Pickfords, Santa Fe, etc. But you can rest assured that if you use them you won't have to pay duty you don't need to. It might well save you money and will save a lot of hassle. This is China.

Thanks... However, boxes are arriving by air freight from Kathmandu, so this is the port of entry, i.e. really need someone here to handle import and customs clearance, and hopefully, delivery. Suggestions welcome.

Our business is scaling up and we're looking at potentially buying some dried fruits directly from a wholesaler in another country...around one or two metric tons to start with. Does anybody have any advice about accomplishing this? I guess it would be most sensible to have them sent to Guangzhou and find an import agent there who can get the product through customs and then forward to us for a few kuai/kilo with one of the domestic logistics companies. Or would you do it differently? Anybody know of a good agent that has know-how with agricultural products?
