My area of knowledge is NOT clinical psychology but applied psychology. Here is an example. If someone asked me - Are you Chinese? I will reply - No, I am not chinese, I am American. I deny the wrong guess yet provide te correct answer.

However, when you were asked this same question, your reply was - I am NOT chinese and I am not american. Yet you never stated where you are from. For me, this raises a red flag that I will keep in my mind.

...you think every parents knows when the child is lying? yeah right. :) - Once again, you failed to read - my exact words were - Also can include any Good parent who can tell when their kids are not telling the truth. You use the word EVERY, but I used the word GOOD. Very different meaning.

So now I realize why you make so many errors - because you are NOT a native english speaker, writer or reader.

I am sorry you believe that jet fuel DEFORMED steel which caused a building to disintegrate.

@HFCAMPO
Wow your example of applied psychology is stunning, the example goes slightly into linguistics and less into psychology. Plus your example is already based on a subjective base question. Regarding my reply to your question towards my nationality.

My applied psychology advise is, why don't you use your skills and a few episodes of "Lie to me" to find out why I didn't answer in the way you would have liked.....sorry mate, just pulling your leg.

But that is what I was posting earlier, if you wanted to prove a point you will loose objectivity and try to find your proofs leaning towards your theory. (Something that reall scientist clinical or appllied, really try to avoid)

By the way being alive and doing ones daily stuff isn't exactly applied psychology, it's pretty clinical based if not even more to prove the accuracy of the paradigms and results.

sidenote: If you would have read more carefully you could just read that I am from Europe and if I'm not from an Anglo-Saxxonian state, there is a very small chance that I am Native English speaker.

And yes some mistakes are becasue I am not a Native English speaker but I think the majority of them are because I am not in the right environment to post in forums (@work, with a supervisor right next to me, plus that I am proofread-lazy.)

I forgot though, that spelling and grammar is the most important part in an Expat Forum in China... :)

But if you have stones left ...please go on and throw some more!!!! :D

About the kids GOOD/EVERY thing, sorry for the language mix up, but actually I was intentionally using EVERY, becasue all parents are good parents (or bad if you will), depends on the POV (I would agree we shouldn't use molesters, beating and messed up parents as an example for the good parents).

So every not socially suspicious parent should be considered to be good and good enough to be able to spot a lie, but they aren't.

You will see when you have a teeneage child and you are disappointed a few times through that stage and amazed how you weren't able to discover their lies.

Dudeson's - I realize I also made a proofreading error when I wrote clinical and applied. I did read your post carefully and I already know you are from Europe. The point I was/am making is that you still continue to SAY where you are NOT from rather then just saying where you are from. (ie. I am from Belgium, I am from Lithuania) So from psychology I realize that you do NOT want to share this info with anyone on this forum for some reason. I dont know the reason, maybe it is shame or guilt or safety or something else. Not enough info to make a decision at this point.

I want to Apologize to you for my tone in the previous post because I now see and understand why you said - But if you have stones left ...please go on and throw some more!!!! :D - Again, I am sorry about my tone because I can see why you feel I am throwing stones. This is why I usually do NOT write to any person specifically. But now I purposely put your name here because my apology is directed to you because I see how I was Throwing stones in my previous comment. It is obvious from both our comments here and in other forums that we disagree on many issues. I like disagreement because it is venue for learning. NO apology needed for different viewpoints but I again want to say sorry for my tone and stone throwing.

Apology accepted and the same here, if my tone was insulting or agressive, I apologize for it.
Also wasn't trying to step on your or anyone else's for that matter.
I agree, disagrement helps to learn new point and gather knowledge.
Sometimes I get carried away in my cynicism and sarcasm.

And yes you are right, I don't like to share where I am from, for safety reasons. Not many people from my country in Kunming, so I would be easy to spot
Please, don't misunderstand I' m not trying to be a child, really just safety stuff.

No worries Geezer, I'm a good stone dodger, they didn't hit me too hard. :)

Sorry from my side for being an ass.
Thanks Geezer,

@Dude
Serious. Excellent debate skills.

As for being "pigu"s. Did you hear the one about the body's organs having a dispute as to which was the most important and should therefore be the leader/decision maker?

The eyes said they should lead, as without the eyes you can't see where you're going. The ears said without them - you can't hear. The mouth argued without it - can't eat or speak. The heart warned without it - everyone's dead. Then the A-hole pitches in flatly stating it should be the leader. All the other parts laughed in mocking derision, so the A-hole decided to go on strike.

After a short day - the eyes were bloodshot and popping out of their sockets, the mouth was dry and couldn't speak from the groaning, the ears were ringing like church bells, and the heart was pounding furiously - all the body parts quickly and unanimously capitulated. And that's why - to this day - all decisions are made by the A-hole...(is this too off-color for forums?).

A timely post @laotou. Recently I have seen a number of contributors here who see themselves as leaders.

On the morning of August 17, in a fit of anger over a family dispute, a man killed six people with a knife, including relatives of his ex-wife and a former party secretary, in Beijing's northeastern county of Pinggu.

english.caixin.com/2012-08-21/100426751.html

China, 1,300,000,000 people, has, officially, the about same number of murders as the US, 310,000,000 people.

During the spate of young student killings a few years ago. Chinese media sometimes referred to the the stabbing and hacking deaths as "accidents."

Americans murder while Chinese accident each other.

@ Geezer, but what's the population difference ?

and the murder rates :

Murder rates USA /per 100,000 = 4.2

murder rates China/ per 100,000 = 1.0
