I'm looking for a GPS car unit with Pinyin as input option. so far i only found devices with english menu but chinese (Hanzi) maps. That doesnt work for me. Anything available?

As I understand it the software for all GPS units are controled by the govt. That is also why you will never see coordinates of your position listed. Therefore, it is reasonable to assume that maps would only be written in Chinese.
Best to get a GPS outside of China.

If you can read Chinese but want to input in PinYin then the Newman GPS is the one for you. but I found the use of the PinYin input was a bit strange, for example Cui Hu Gongg Yuan should be inputed as CHGY once you do this then you are fine until you learn how to write Chinese,,,
