Honestly I think its just something that happens in general when people write comments online, whether it be in comments sections or in forum posts. Sometimes people try to sound like a reviewer or try to sound journalistic/very verbose. They try to use fancy words but if someone ever spoke in that way in real life you could be forgiven for thinking they were sounding a little conceited.

So whats up with these restrictions then? Was there some kind of crackdown? I hear there have been earthquakes, fires and terror attacks...so I guess more police, new buildings, restrictions on fire festival torches maybe?

Dali isn't "fun", peaceful or relaxing anymore. Maybe if you're into smog, litter, traffic congestion and dirty lakes Dali would be your cup of tea...however Kunming already offers all of those things.
