moving to Kunming from US soon. So I have heard recently that Chinese citizens are limited to converting Yuan to USD at $10K per person per year.

So you all face the same problem trying to convert Yuan to USD to send back to the US? Or are US citizens exempt?

It's $50k/year.

Foreigners have the same limit BUT you need to produce your income tax receipts to convert and transfer money out. There's more to it than that but I've never done it myself (my Chinese wife transfers money back to the UK for me as she can do it online)
