Shipping food back to America

Bridget (7 posts) • 0

I have a question.... I'm trying to send a "Chinese Care Package" back to a friend who lives in America, and just recently left China.
Anyways, before I try to send it, I was wondering if anyone knew any rules about sending food/dvds overseas? I'm trying to send a bag of peanuts, some tea, hot pot flavoring, and a few dvds.

Thanks!

Hi Bridget!

From what I recall, anything you can not bring on your luggage through customs, you can not send. The problem is not on this end but on that end so it is best to check the post office's website for exactly what you can or can not send.

A few years ago I sent some tea and a clay tea pot with no problems. Just make sure you label what you are sending.

I've had dried and liquid foods both in plastic and glass containers shipped into China from the US without any problem (except during the Olympics last year). I assume it would be okay to do the reverse, but I don't know.
