Actually there many nice girls in Kunming.
if you just want to find casual fun, you can meet many girls in bars.
but if you want to meet really nice girls, maybe you can go out with your Chinese friends or let them recommend some girls for you.
Or you can try to start some language exchange programs,because girls who can speak fluent english are well-educated, and you can have good commucation with them.

I think plenty of Kunming girls have plenty of personality, but the eating, shopping and playing with yr cellphone syndrome seems to be taking over, if it has not already taken over, the minds of massive numbers of people everywhere.

So heres the truth, forget about the rest.

You need money if you want that girl. Preferably a stable (high) income, and you can choose your preference out from a shelf. If she aint got kids yet, better focus on the being daddy thing too.

Nobody around cares about your poetry, ideology, music taste, emotions - bloody anything, if you have an empty wallet. Speaking a language is just a curiosity, its not that important, you can probably get away with a dictionary as long as you got the stable cash around.

You may get away with empty pockets for a while though, but in the long run its doomed. This applies pretty much allover the world anyway.

And hell, its pretty reasonable too. A guy going on like those lazy philosophers of ancient Athens, is not much worth.

Theres a Chinese proverb for this too, something like "never marry a scholar, he will just offer a crooked back".

I must disagree. Kunming girls are human beings like anyone else. There are cultural differences, sure, and that is a big part of conversation, but to say that they have no personality and are shallow is, in my opinion, not true. Talk about family, culture, history, philosophy — Chinese people love these things.

@Peter99, while there is some truth to what you say, I find that Chinese girls are not necessarily so much interested in a rich man (although some of course are), but rather a man who will work hard, be a good provider, be a family man, stay home, and take care of their family as if it were his own. I find many Chinese girls would be thrilled to have a man like that who is not rich.

Few of my foreign friends who have Chinese wives can be said to be anything like 'rich'.

Philosophy, haha. You need to have some kind of independent thought and liberal arts education to talk about philosophy. Both almost non-existant here.
