World-Jazz Concert

Description

The well established German Accordion musician Cathrin Pfifer have several different musical projects. This time she is bringing her duo project, witch she does with the percussionist Konrad Sommer, to China.

They call their project

-- Music for travellers -World Jazz.

Culture and music is a source of their inspiration for their compositions.
They are

highly influenced by countries traditions and culture in the language of music. Examples of influential countries and areas, such as Argentina, Brazil, France and Balkan and the Orient.

They fuse the ethnical grooves by using the rhythm and melodic ways, while experimenting it into their own musical language German Folk and Jazz.

If you are a lover of ethno music and experimental jazz this is a concert you definitely should not miss!

Cathrin Pfiefer---
Cathrin Pfeifer is a music academy trained accordion player.
Since early 1990 she has been working as a professional accordion musician.
She is a traveler and has been freelancing all over the world. She has different projects such as, solo projects, duo projects and band projects.
Some headwords are: World Brazil, Latin Jazz Afro Folk.
Her unique style is not only characterized by cooperating with musicians from different societies. It is also a result of her experiments within the different genres music, as:
Folk, Rock, Avant-garde, Improvisation, Modern Classic Music, and by cooperating with Dance-/Theatre.
In her original compositions one recognizes a cosmopolitan woman with a zest for life, brimming over with lyricism, openness and personal surprises.

Konrad Sommer---
Conny Sommer was born in Hamburg in 1963.
Here he started his musical training at the age of nine. While studying musicology, with a major in music ethnology, Conny Sommer went on several study trips to Cuba, Puerto Rico, Spain, Colombia and Guinea.
Since 1989, he has been very successful and worked as a freelance and studio musician, teacher and lecturer.
His instructional percussion book “Das große Lehrbuch für Cajón“ can almost be considered to be compulsive reading for cajoneros.
A second method book and an instructional DVD by Conny Sommer are also available on the market.
The German specialist magazine “Drums & Percussion” regularly publishes an educational column about cajon playing which is written by Conny Sommer.

His music style has a wide range:
Acoustic pop music, jazz, flamenco and every other groovy style of music
