Friday: Piano workshop at TCG Nordica
If you're a piano player of any level and are looking for something different to do on a Friday afternoon, you may want to check out the piano pedagogy workshop at TCG Nordica from 2 to 5pm. The free workshop will focus on expressive piano performance.
Friday: Franck and Eddy at 1895 Movie Bar
Back by popular demand, pianist Franck Bourjini and vocalist Eddy Kneefel will play a free show at 1895 Movie Bar Friday night at 10. Margaritas will be on special for 20 yuan.
Friday: Chou Pi Nang at The Mask
The Mask will host an evening of live local music Friday night with Chou Pi Nang (臭皮囊), which plays a mix of ethnic minority music, reggae and ska. The free show starts at 10pm.
Friday: B-Side China Tour at The Club
Friday night the B-Side China Tour will make its Kunming stop at The Club, with music and visuals provided by DJ Pancake Lee and VJ Sonar, respectively. Show starts at 10pm, entry is 30 yuan at the door.
Saturday: Design salon at TCG Nordica
Saturday afternoon from 2 to 4 Nordica will host a China design network salon, focusing on "megatrends of design in China". Admission is free.
Saturday: Boxing at Expo Garden Hotel
Boxing aficionados take note: Yunnan native Xiong Chaozhong will take on Japan's Daisuke Iida in the main event at Expo Garden Hotel Saturday night. There will also be six warmup bouts, the first beginning at 7:30. Tickets are limited and prices vary, for more info call 5016905.
Saturday: Movie Night at TCG Nordica
Nordica will host a free movie night at 7:30 on Saturday. We haven't been told what movie they'll be showing... if you don't feel like trying your luck, give them a call at 4114691 to find out what they'll be screening.
Saturday: Latin Dance Party at Camel Bar
Saturday night Camel Bar will host the return of Roxy's Latin dance party, with music by DJ Dutch. The free party starts at 9:30, and ladies will get their first drink free.
Saturday: Funk Assembly at The Mask
Saturday night Funk Assembly, Kunming's own United Nations of Funk, will take the stage at The Mask, to play a mix of funk, fusion and blues. The free show starts at 10.
