Friday: Mediterranean Night at The Box
Homemade sangria is 10 yuan per glass at The Box's Mediterranean Night on Friday. A glass of sangria with Greek salad is 25 yuan and sangria with pasta salad is 30.

"Rethink" exhibition opening at TCG Nordica
The Rethink exhibition opening at TCG Nordica Friday is focused on environmental thinking. It includes works by Viktoria Gustafsson and Frida Karlsson. The free events begins at 8pm.

Friday: Retro party at Laba
Local legend A Hong and friends play live music at Laba on Friday night with a focus on retro music styles. Guests are encouraged to wear 80s or any other style of retro clothing. The free party starts at 9pm.

Friday: The Great Apes at 1895
The Great Apes rock band plays one of their energetic live shows at 1895 Movie Bar on Friday night. The free show will feature specials on half-liters of Franziskaner wheat beer for 20 yuan. It starts at 10pm.

Saturday: Kunming Market at Slice of Heaven
It's the first Saturday of the month, which means it is time for the Kunming Market at Slice of Heaven on Hongshan Dong Lu, just a few minutes from the Green Lake area.

This month, in addition to locally made arts and crafts the market features gourmet Western-style sausages and special prices on artisan Dutch farmhouse cheese, including 400-gram wheels of original flavor for 55 yuan and flavors such as herbes de Provence, cumin, onion garlic and spicy Italian for 60 yuan. The market runs from 2 to 6pm.

Saturday: Vegan cooking class at TCG Nordica
A professional vegan chef will demonstrate Chinese-style vegan cooking techniques at TCG Nordica on Saturday. There are two tiers of involvement: direct participation in the cooking class (55 yuan/person, book ahead by calling Nordica at 4114691), or spectating (10 yuan, no booking required). Saturday: AK-47 at Laowo Bar
Local metal band AK-47 performs at Laowo Bar on Saturday night. For samples of their music, click here. Tickets to the 9:30pm show are 50 yuan, or 40 yuan with a student ID card.

Saturday: Live music at Moondog
Joost gives one of his trademark solo performances at Moondog bar on Saturday. Big bottles of Tsingtao beer will be on sale for 10 yuan each at the free, 10pm show.

Saturday: Live music at 1896 Sports Bar
"Sassy blues is the name of the game" Saturday night up north at 1896 Sports Bar where David, Charlie and Emily play live music to celebrate the bar's reopening after renovation. Half-liter servings of Franziskaner wheat beer will be 20 yuan, among other drink specials. The free show starts at 10pm.

Saturday: Nero party at Laba
G&E productions holds a party at Laba Saturday night, and will be again bringing all of its own bar supplies. The "Nero" party will feature African drumming with the Dangsters, fire dancing, and DJ Martin Solberg, plus drink specials. Entry is 10 yuan and the party starts at 10pm.

Monday: Kunming Writers' Workshop meeting at 7pm and open mic night at Halfway House at 10pm.

Tuesday: Knit, stitch and chat club at Slice of Heaven at 3pm and open mic night at 1895 Movie Bar at 10pm.

Wednesday: All-you-can eat pizza night at Lazy Bones Restaurant at 6pm, Green Drinks Kunming at Chapter One at 7pm and students' meeting night at Moondog at 9pm.

Thursday: Quiz night at Chapter One at 7:30pm and tonic night at The Box at 8pm.
