Dali breakfast - any recommendations?

GoK Moderator (5096 posts) • 0

Well I have been to Dali a couple of times. And been in Yunnan a few years. I will confess to being a person who cannot eat local food 3 times a day, 7 days a week. I am not going to apologize for it, as my wife wants noodles for breakfast when we are back in UK and I have no problem with that.
I enjoy a western breakfast with bakers bread to set me up for the day. It is one of my holiday treats. Back home in Kunming I have porridge or muesli, unless I go the market and have jian bing.

Hi Tigertiger,

A friend once said to me that no matter how long a person stays in another country the two things that cant be fully adapted to are breakfast and medicine.

Seems true for most people.

Most of us are friendly and helpful. But after living in China for almost 10 years I will confess to having trust issues. I am sure that I am not alone on here.

No, you just lose credibility by the contradictory statements you make.

Oct 14 - Ask about Dali but don't know where Bakery 88 or Jim's Guesthouse is.
Oct 22 - Went to Dali and found Bakery 88 but did not get as far as Bad Monkey and still don't know where Cafe de Jack is.

I know you have trust issues but why didn't you just ask a real life person or foreigner on the streets of Dali where these places are?

You have 1900+ posts and you know everything about everything. You give people advice and specific instructions about where to go and how to find things with great detail yet you can not find a place in Dali.

Tiger, I am NOT being hostile and I am not using any profanity towards you. Every word that is written above came from your own post. Just stating the obvious.

You are getting pretty grumpy though HFCAMPO... why question tigertiger and start off with a semi personal attack on his knowledge?

Hell, I have been in Kunming over 3 years and never been to Dali (yet a lot to other areas), so would have trouble finding stuff there too...

No need to think everyone is stupid or people have some ulterior motive just because they know less than you about specific subjects...

Here we go to the rescue. I did NOT begin with a personal attack of Tiger's knowledge. On the contrary, I stated the complete opposite as Tiger is very knowledgable and frequently is the first to reply to questions on this forum. He has a vast knowledge of many topics. This is why I asked him these very specific questions because it is NOT like him to act this way in the past. I did not think nor say that he or anyone is stupid as you put it so no need to put words in my mouth that I never said. I never made any comparison of his or anyone else's knowledge so I have no idea where you make a statement such as - because they know less than you about specific subjects.

The point and my question is, why ask questions on this forum rather than ask a real life person standing in the street in Dali?
