Try ordering on Taobao... Everything is there, usually 30-35% cheaper (including shipping fees) then any shop, store or whole saler...

There's Many Trees hostel, they're on hostelworld. I don't think it's going to be really tough to find a hotel though. It's different during Chun Jie from Po Shui Jie in April, during those days people are sleeping in their cars. Walk - or in your case rather bike - around Manting Lu, there's a ton of 50 kuai hotels there. They might be somewhat more expensive during Chun Jie, I'm not sure. And come look me up in Wangtianshu :-))
I managed to buy a BKK - KMG for slightly less then 2.000 kuai a while a go so Yereth's price seems okay for the season.

I decided to try out this place a while ago. I'm a frequent visitor of Kunming and I usually stay at The Hump. Not any more. Lovely people, excellent food, all the help I needed in buying a last minute plane ticket and, above all, a really nice - and warm! - room on the roof.
I'll be staying with them a lot!
