I`m interested too. I want to visit Shangri La. I know one-way airplane ticket from Kunming will cost up to 1300rmb, taking bus will take you 12 hours and it will cost up to 120rmb one way. Will be thankfull for any information.

JiaoTong college is also a nice place. For those, who wants to make friends with head of police station and solve visa problems fast, one-on-one classes, besides there is a cheap accomodation (1250rmb/term), I recomend Jiaotong Xue xiao.
