I don't have a sound system, but if someone else does, I'm in!
I just flew into Kunming last weekend and have enough salsa, merengue, bachata, and cha cha music to get a party started. Let me know when and where.
question: how many of us want to learn and how many just want to dance?
Hi,
I know this is cheeky, but we have the facilities at the Hump in Jinma fang. If anyone wants to play music, please let me know and we could organise some drink specials or anything else you might need for a good party.
Cheers, Mark
Highly recommend Hump salsa parties! the whole of kunming will show up if you have good music and hump's great at spreading the word! viva salsa!
I prefer to just dance but if there's enough interest, I could teach a basic class say before a Hump salsa party...for FREE! Although I'm not a professional instructor, I have taught informally and have danced over 10 years mostly in San Francisco, Singapore, and Sydney.
I'll talk to Mark or someone else at the Hump about their venue and see how they can help spread the word on the next party.
Spoke to Mark last night. There have been Brazilian and other latin type parties successfully held at the Hump. He's willing to let us set up a salsa night anytime except tues & thurs (when he has his own house band playing).
Are there preference to doing this on the weekend (fri/sat night) or on a quieter night such as wed or sunday? If no feedback within the next couple of days, I'll ask Mark about promoting next wednesday, June 2.
though i will be in kunming only few days later then the 2nd but i think wednesdays are perfect!
can you say what will be the hours of the party?
i really appreciate the fact that people are really moving things to make little things like salsa parties happen!!! kunming sounds like a great place to be in...
I've been to a Latin dance night at Hump and thought the dance space was really small. Do you think the Hump would be willing to move the tables in front of the stage and bar out (not just push them to the side)? If there are really going to be a lot of us dancing and a few people learning we'll need plenty of dance floor space so we're not knocking into each other and stepping on toes. I'd go next Wednesday if this really happens. Wednesdays and Sundays work for me.
i want join,i want to learn salsa,i like it very much, june 2,i'm free,i can go to HUMP,who can teach me?
