Hello, does anybody has experience with a two day trip to the rice terraces near yuanyang. I would like to leave Kunming this friday afternoon and come back monday. Nice Hotels in the Region appreciated. Train and bus, or just bus? Thank you and Kind regards

Nan Sha (Yuan Yang) is located 85 km (2.5 hours) south of Jianshui and 55 km (1.5 hours) west of Gejiu. Xin Jie is located 34 km (1 hour) south of NanSha. XinJie is where you want to go if you want to see the terraced fields of Yuan Yang County.
The terraced fields of Yuan Yang are one of the 48 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in China and one of the 5 UNESCO sites in Yunnan. A complete tour of the Terraced Fields of Yuan Yang is 60 km long and takes about 5 hours. You can rent a van for 200-400 RMB to take you to all 4 scenic areas. The 4 scenic areas: Qing Kou Village, Lao Hu Zui (Tiger Mouth) scenic area, Bada Scenic Area and Duo Yi Shu Scenic Area.

Lots to see and do in Jianshui:
1 - Chong Wen Ta - 崇文塔 - is not easy to find - a hidden treasure.
2 - Old Jianshui Train Station.

4 - The ancient wells of Jianshui are very popular among tourists especially since all the wells are still in use by the locals. Few locals know the location of all the wells and only 3 are found on the map. The 7 most important wells include the East Well (East Gate), Fubo Well (West Gate), Yuan Well (West Gate), 2 Mouth Well (Han Lin Jie), 3 Mouth Well (Han Lin Jie), 3 Mouth Well (Long Jing Market) and the 4 Mouth Well (Guan Di Miao Jie).
5 - Tuan Shan (Gu Min Ju) Old Town is located 12 km (30 minutes) west of Jian Shui. This old town is well preserved and has very few visitors. Along the way to Tuan Shan you can see the Double Dragon Bridge and the Yellow Dragon Temple.
6 - Few people are aware that Jian Shui has 4 bridges.
- The Double Dragon Bridge (Shuang Long Qiao) is located 5 km south (10 minutes) of Jian Shui and it is one of the Historical and Cultural Sites of Yunnan.
- The Xiang Hui Bridge is located 5 km west (10 minutes) of the Double Dragon Bridge.
- The Tian Yuan Bridge is located 10 km east (20 minutes) of the Chao Yang Lou Arch. It is not very far from the new train station so you can get a taxi to take you there before coming into town from the train station.
- Finally, the Da Xin Bridge is located 40 km north (1 hour) in the town of Qu Jiang.
