The Double Ninth Festival (Chong Yang Jie 重阳节) is celebrated on the 9th day of the 9th lunar month.

Number 9 is a yang number (represents positive energy) as described in the I Ching (or Yi Jing 易经, Book of Changes or Classic of Changes), this day filled with two nines hence is called “ Chong Yang” (double positive energy). In China, this festival is also know as “Senior Citizens’ Day”, as 9 represents “longevity” in Chinese.

In 2021, Double Ninth Festival will be on the 14th of October , falls on the early autumn, it will be a good time for hiking and climbing mountain, enjoy the vibrant golden color of this season.
