Friday: Uprock is back
Uprock – a familiar Kunming late night hangout formerly of Xichang Lu and then Kundu – has teamed up with Skyhouse Bar on Baoshan Jie and will reopen there on Friday as Skyhouse Uprock. The new space is a lounge and nightclub with a focus on DJs from out of town and live music. The free opening party will feature tunes from DJ Groovemiki of Qingdao. It starts at 10pm.
Friday: DJ Getyk at The Hump Bar
The party at The Hump Bar on Friday will feature only the "finest electronica" from DJ Getyk of Berlin. Gin and tonics will be 12 yuan at the free event, which starts at 10pm.
Saturday: Dance performance at TCG Nordica
Two Swedish and two Chinese dancers will stage an experimental dance performance titled "sketches" at TCG Nordica on Saturday. To ensure entry to the 8pm, 25-yuan show, buy in advance at Nordica, Wheatfield Bookstore or 1895 Movie Bar. More information is available here.
Saturday: Live indie rock at Laowo Bar
The show at Laowo on Saturday night will feature emo-tinged songs from Kunming's Mr. U&D (上下先生) and other indie rock from Beijing-based Even Less and Taiyuan-based Atomic Fxxking Man with special guest. The show starts at 9pm and the 20 yuan ticket price includes a free beer.
Sunday: Brunch at Lazy Bones
Lazy Bones Restaurant will have the usual Sunday brunch goodies, including breakfasts, pancakes, Italian specials and DIY bloody marys. The brunch runs from noon to 5pm.
Sunday: Roast meal at Slice of Heaven

Sunday & Monday: Stage productions at TCG Nordica
TCG Nordica will stage "Old Boy" on Sunday and Monday at 7:30pm. It is describing the play as "experimental avant-garde theater." More information about the 35-yuan production, including advanced ticket information, is available here.
