During my last trip to Lijiang I joined Carol, the lovely Singaporean owner of Jayden Lodge, for a Kundalini yoga class. The traditional wooden and stone guesthouse and yoga studio are grouped around a small and quiet courtyard, right at the edge of Shuhe and the hills, so it's very quiet and peaceful. Carol and her husband and small son live here too so it's bit like a homestay. There are only a few spacious rooms for guests. Carol and her husband are excellent hosts, serving breakfast, coffee and tea in the courtyard. They also organize small group tours around Yunnan.

They cannot accept foreign students for obvious reasons. You can call and get a contact to do online classess still though if they have teachers available.

Recently discovered this restaurant and had one of the best dining experiences of the last few years. Japanese themed fine dining served in 8 courses by a chef who really cares about the quality of the food and the ingredients. Well worth the 320 yuan a head.

The restaurant is part of a small, beautiful boutique hotel close to the Dianchi boulevard, hidden in a villa complex.

Reservations are required, so best to give them a call before heading over.

3* for the food and the service (the sweets were good but the rest was not worth it) 5* for the room and the place itsself.

Tacos are superb! Really nice atmosphere and super friendly staff.

I've known their food for a while and it's always been excellent! (great for vegetarians). Had the chance to stay there for the weekend and it was perfect. Friendly and helpful staff, great location, clean and comfy rooms!

Secret local restaurants that have been around for over 30 years. The best version I've had yet of many of our yunnan favorite dishes and some I'd not yet tried before.

Joy and Marta really do know their city and Joy's memories of these places as a child are great.

Our tour included 24 dishes which is so much more than any other food tour I've been on and took us to hidden corners of Kunming I don't think I could have found on my own.

Excellent value for money. Very insightful guiding by Joy and Marta. Ideal and pleasant mix of cuisine, culture, history and a little cardio. Comprehensive menu. Your taste buds will dance! Highly recommend for residents and visitors alike! Loved it!
