I think it's great that the rain is coming down more this year. Maybe the drought is easing up. Anybody knows what the drought situation is currently?

I haven't checked the stats for this year as it is still early in the season. It is simply amazing that I can get statistics about Kunming from a Spanish website and not from Kunming, Yunnan, or China.
Hold on to your umbrellas!!
The first pulse of the monsoon season is forecast for late next week..early June.
These pulses of monsoon coincide with a huge low pressure system on the tibet plateau which suck moist air from the south over the Yunnan plateau ..
As you know....The yunnan plateau has it's river valeys in a north / south orientation creating a natural path for air to flow northwards. unlike the himalayas which block the the flow.
When a High pressure resides over the tibet plateau we get a north flow of dry air over the yunnan plateau.

Great stats Hugo..( from the link )
It would be useful to know the geographical location where the information is collected from.
Rainfall calculations can vary widely if a large percentage of rainfall is from large cumulus clouds ( T-showers )
I just want the drought to be declared 'over'.
Last year I got the stats from the Kunming Meteorological Bureau in Chenggong and those figures matched what was on the Spanish website. There really is no drought, it is just that Kunming is geographically located where there is not so much rain as opposed to Xishuangbanna that receives much more rain than us. The other problem is the population density that uses water on a daily basis. Close all golf courses and car washes and use the water for more important things such as agriculture which feeds us all.
Whenever there's a main break, they takes hours to arrive to close the leak.
more thunder rumbling. god i love that sound~!
Me too. My wife and I love to look out the window when it's thundering and raining real heavy. Keep the rains coming.
Rain!Rain!Rain! Yeah!
