Hi,
I am looking to get a playful, energetic dog as a running partner and a pet.I had to do some research, good running partner is a medium sized dog. Pugs and toy dogs are not a good choice.
Possible breeds are :
Boxer, Beagle, Blackmouth Cur, Working terrier (or most Sheppard dogs.), Labrador Retriever. But i don't know how to look for pets in Kunming. How much should i expect to pay for such dogs? Are there any shelters in Kunming? Or anyone has some pups to give away?
Any advice appreciated,
Thanks.

Try the Pet/Plant/Bird/Fish Market near the Horticultural Expo. It's directly across the street from the "Home Depot" knockoff that has the big orange and white signs.
By the way, if you're looking for a dog that love to run, huskies are your dog. When I lived in Alaska, I would take mine out skijorring sometimes 20 km/day and they were always ready for more. If you don't take them out everyday, they get a little crazy.
If you need bus info, let me know where you're starting from.

I think i know where that is. Near downtown kunming? That's the first place i thought of. I've been there before, I saw some birds, spiders, fish, lizards, and a couple of cats. But never dogs. I will try again.
I also thought about Huskies. But I'm not sure they like hotter climates. I don't think i'll ever live in Dubai, but i might be in places where it's 30 to 35C in the summer, If ever my work takes me away from KM :( I also plan to have this dog for a long time.
Thanks.

Believe it or not Alaska gets quite warm in the summer. +40-43, even north of the Arctic Circle. Remember the sun doesn't set for a few months. We still worked the dogs with wheeled sleds. We did shave the Malamute though. 6 kg of fur. One of the Eskimo women spun it into yarn and made a sweater and shawl out of it.
To get to the market, you would take the 69 or 71 bus to Horticultural Expo bustop, get off when they announce that you have arrived at the Expo and walk back the way you came about 1/2 block, cross the street at the light and then cross the street again on your right. It's about a 100m straight ahead just past the car dealership. It would be good to take a native with you to negotiate. That way you won't fleeced too badly. There was also an ad here for a male golden retriver in the classified. It's a few weeks old but here it is:
I have a pure bred golden retriever. He is already 11 months old.He knows some tricks.
Very friendly and intelligent.Knows where and when to pee and poo.Complete of vaccines. It includes a large steel cage(portable).Make an offer.Send me an email for photos.yunnan44@yahoo.com.cn
