  • Foreigners BEWARE!
    

    There is a terrible company that posts job listings on this site. Their name is "WanCheng." They normally use various accounts to post jobs, but the info is all the same:
    -located in Qujing City.
    -students ages are 5 - 17
    - "You should control the class neatly and tactfully. And the students will enjoy leaning English and will lean English well with your help."
    - they promise 100RMB per class (or they have gone as low as 50RMB per class)
    -the information regarding WHEN you have class is usually confusing:
    "You can get the next week off after attending a week's classes" (not to mention - this is a LIE).

    The contact information is usually:

    This company is truly one of the worst in all of China. A quick google search of "Wan Cheng International School" should give you a good idea of how terrible this "school" really is.

    To name a few things:
    -They claim you will have one week of work followed by one week of a break, this is FALSE. You will most likely teach at a College (Technical College) one week followed by primary schools (yes, more than one) the following. While retaining "your classes" at their private location on the weekends.
    -They will steal money from you. They shave classes off your salary and charge you for repairs and services without showing receipts.

    -The managers have NO RESPECT for foreigners, borderline racist.
    -The books are atrocious and their expectations of you training the students to have "a true foreign accent" are unrealistic.
    -They are NOT A SCHOOL, they are a BUSINESS. They do not care about the classes, they do not care about the teachers, they do not care about your quality of life - they only care about money filling their pockets.
    -The contract they have you sign is FILLED with ILLEGAL clauses and appendices. The managers have NO real knowledge of Chinese law and only try to bully you with a fake contract. They will lie to and bribe authorities to try and have their way.

    DO NOT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY!

    You can reply to this posting and we (MANY former WanCheng teachers) will be glad to give you our personal testimonies about this terrible "school."

    THEY ARE A TERRIBLE BUSINESS. THEY HAVE BEEN REPORTED TO THE EDUCATION BUREAU AS BEING UNETHICAL TO FOREIGNERS. THEY HAVE BEEN REPORTED TO THE AMERICAN CONSULATE IN CHENGDU. THEY HAVE BEEN REPORTED TO THE AMERICAN EMBASSY IN BEIJING.

    DO NOT WORK FOR WANCHENG!

    Qujing and Kunming are wonderful places to live and visit, but BEWARE of companies like WanCheng that diminish the beauty of these wonderful cities.
