Chinese classes at YNU don't start until Monday, don't know who my peers will be. What are some things I can do in Kunming if I don't meet up with anyone? If I do find a few of my peers, I could still use a few suggestions for inexperienced travelers new to Kunming. I'll have several weekends, so no need to knock off the top tourist destinations when I'm just settling in.

I just arrived in Kunming tonight. I tried some ATMs at the new airport, and my Visa debit card issued by a small bank back home was not accepted. Is there a bank/ATM near YNU that will work? If I can go out tomorrow and confirm that I have access to my money, I will be at ease.

I looked up Lanmei Hotel on Google maps and could not find it. Anybody know where it is exactly? Is there a different name for it?
