Kunming hasn't really got any clubs like that I think. The ones catering to the Chinese usually play lots of mediocre dance music mixed with boy band stuff, Chinese ballads and Canto pop. Uprock used to have the occasional DJ who you'd probably have liked but these days I don't know.

you could go KunDou (昆都),there lot of clubs where the DJ plays newest hip-hop and r&b,of course you can dance....l would recommend SOHO(苏荷), or 芭比,wonderful music and many beautiful girls,I think you will having fun！

Soho: no dance floor; horrible karaoke performances; warm, overpriced, junk beer that requires ice cubes for palatability; terrible music; skanky skanks cruising for a fat wallet. It's a skip, folks!
