The China International Travel Mart 2022 to be held July 22

By in on

On June 23, during an official press conference in Beijing, the new date of the China International Travel Mart (CITM) 2022 was officially announced. China's largest tourism expo was originally scheduled to take place at the end of last year but has been postponed several times due to the pandemic.

The event will now take place on July 22 to 24, 2022, in the city of Kunming, and will be jointly hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Civil Aviation Administration of China, and the People's Government of Yunnan Province. As with the previous installment, the official venue will again be the impressive Dianchi International Convention and Exhibition Center, located at the northern shores of Dianchi Lake, Yunnan's largest body of water.

This year's expo will feature more than 70 overseas exhibitors, participating both online and offline, as well as 31 domestic representatives from provinces, autonomous regions and cities across China, and more than 200 other cultural and tourism institutions and enterprises. The exhibition site covers 70,000 square meters, offering space for approximately 2,500 booths.

The event will include a variety of themed sections, including an area dedicated to the visual display of cultural tourism and a 'Healthy Living Destination' exhibition, in addition to further zones outlining recent developments in sports tourism, smart tourism, overseas tourism and other segments of the industry.

A combination of online and offline activities will mark the start of an innovative new era for the CITM with, for the first time, live streaming launches of new tourism and cultural products and a number of online discussions including participants joining from various locations.

Other new features of this year's CITM include:

- A 'Smart Tourism' exhibition area, which will highlight innovative technologies used within the industry that can provide visitors with cutting-edge interactive experiences.

- The seamless integration of online and offline events, promoting barrier-free communication and discussion for both buyers and the public alike.

- Prestigious exhibitors such as the Palace Museum, the National Museum, Shanxi Museum, Henan Museum, and Wuhan Museum all participating to promote the protection of cultural relics and heritage and encouraging cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries in these fields.

Throughout the 3-day session a series of on-stage events will be held, starting with an opening ceremony and moving onto, amongst others, a 'Smart Tourism Innovation and Development' forum, a conference on Yunnan culture and tourism promotion and presentations of new tourism products from various regions of China.

The stage will also host a special summit focusing on the building of a shared future in Asia via the China-Laos Railway project. This summit will incorporate a number of elements, including a round table discussion and an exhibition of calligraphy and painting works inspired by the new railway line.

The CITM 2022 will function as the venue for the formalization of a number of forward-looking new projects that emphasize pragmatic and effective cooperation between organizations and, thanks to the attendance and support of some major tourism and financial institutions, the signing of several major new investment deals is scheduled to take place onsite.
