Forums > Living in Kunming > I CAN'T FIND......WHAT ?

Have to laugh at the requests for chocolate or reasonably priced breakfast cereal, but I have really had a hard time finding shoes. My size is 10 and half, but I have a friend who has size 13 and he speaks fluent Chinese and there is just none, not in Kunming, but China altogether. But where is the wholesale place that sells shoes in all sizes, not just the greatest variety of shoes possible.

Noticed that the persons who traveled from Kunming to Jinghong, took the bus several times and were able to take a bike along with them. How much does it cost? How do you find a bus that takes a bike? It would be wonderful to travel to Xishaungbanna and take a bike along too.

Forums > Living in Kunming > finding clothes in Kunming

I have been shopping for new clothes in Kunming and it seems like I've been really having to do a lot of leg work to find clothes that fit me. I'm 6 foot 1 and 205 pounds, so I'm not out of the ordinary in terms of height and weight. But it seems like all the shops in Yun Fang clothes market have small stalls and limited stock. Are there any stores the specialize in larger sizes? For one day all I could find was one shoe store (my size 10 and half) and one store where I could buy pants. And last!!! Everything in Kunming is polyester, does anybody sell cotton shirts?

I've taken this path, well worth checking out if you go to Lijiang. It's a long walk to the trailhead, or use a 4 wheel drive to get there. But do it if you have the chance, everybody likes the spiritual quality of the mountains.

115 kilometers is a bit short, usually stages for the Tour de France run around 180 to 200 kilometers. But it would be worthwhile (expense-wise) to have a chance to ride a bike around Yuxi without being hassled by traffic, which is by far the most unpleasant part of riding a bike.

I lived in Wenshan for a year 2009-2010: Local minority tribes would gather at the town center and play cards, play music, dance, and sell various herbs and vegetables every night. Now living in Lijiang, that no longer happens, it just seemed life was more public then, now people are less inclined to socialize in public.
