I like sheep. I never eat sheep.
I eat mutton however.

Same thing. Chinese don't even really distinguish between the two.
They don't distinguish between mutton and goat meat either.
I prefer the taste of goat and it is usually much leaner.
@Magnifico: I really didn't know we were in competition with dogs about all those things...it's too late to enjoy it? Who's winning? And most of all...you're human or dog? You have to chose!!
@reboos
We have to choose? WTF does that mean?
I'd definitely choose my dog over you... or just about any dog in the my neighborhood. You are a perfect example of why humans aren't better than dogs.
Miserable bottom feeding trash...
I think we have to accept that people eat different things. Westerners also eat pigs and pigs are one of the smartest animals and make excellent pets. That doesn't stop us from serving up great big pork steaks or cracking into to a bowl o ribs. And most of the time, even in the west, pigs meant for human consumption still live their lives in tiny cages being force fed all manner of things.
People having their dogs snatched though, that is pretty disgraceful, not only because they are losing their property, but because they are losing a loved one.
Myself, I have only ever eating dog once, in Northern Vietnam. I didn't know what it was, I just pointed to it and got a small bowl full. It was only later I found out it was dog (after asking and using a phrase book). I can tell you this - it wasn't very nice, fatty and bland.
But I do recommend forest squirel if you are in Laos...
@blobbles I mostly take issue with the way the dog ends up as a meal...
I also strongly believe that dogs and humans evolution is intertwined and we have to take some responsibility for their well being. Pigs are intelligent but they have always been a source of food for humans. Dogs through history have been used by humans as protectors, helpers and companions. These are just viewpoints to consider and admittedly reflect my personal bias and attitudes....
The main issue is the miserable dog meat trade in China and all the criminality behind it. Hope China will pass a law to protect dogs soon.
@cuihulongjing
Me too, I definitely choose your dog over you!
Do I really have to explain that I was kidding? Actually I think that we can't choose...if you were born human you can't become dog and vice versa!
Anyway don't be aggressive, I'm not going to eat your dog!
I was just looking information about a traditional dish, as surely you did in your (human) life whenever you tried to get to a pork/beef/chicken restaurant!
I completely understand your reasoning cuihulongjing and I also shy away from eating dog for much the same reasoning. I identify with dogs closely and understand them well and I feel a part of this is a type of genetic imprint coming from thousands of years of shared evolution and the symbiotic relationship that we often have.
Completely agree with the criminality side of things, its a shocker here...
i agree with cuihulongjing. he made the point i was trying to make, but much more eloquently.
i will never ever eat dog meat.
