No, the beans I am referring to are made by a company called "Maling" (梅林)The cost in Shandong is 5.9RMB for 425g (net weight). The quality is about the same as the Heinz beans we have in Canada. I would rate it as superior to the Heinz beans for US market, but inferior to the Heinz beans for the U.K.. My only real complaint is that it contains MSG.
like the one recomendation, if you can cook at all; go from scratch. Ketchup, mustard and brown sugar are good basic ingredients to start with after you cook and drain your beans. find a good small white bean. I like small northerns (are there any in China?). good luck
