I am traveling on business to Kunming for 6 months beginning in August. I am looking for an apartment for myself and my wife. Please provide me with opinions on the best part of the city as well as if anyone has housing suggestions my budget is 12000 to 18000 per month.

not so easy to rent somewhere for just 6 months, but it definitely can be done, especially given your enormous budget.
Just for clarification, is the 12k to 18k per month total budget or just housing budget?

I will be working in the north west of the city, I believe in the "Hi-Tech" zone. I would prefer a nice place to stay that is local to good transport. This is what I am looking to spend for a serviced apartment.

I would like to have something that is very nice and safe (my wife will accompany me to the city). Walking distance to entertainment, food, transport. If there are apartments or places near a good fitness center (powerhouse???) that would be nice too.
A nice view is also a nice to have.
You can have nice and safe for 1/10 of what you plan to spend, with walking distance to 'entertainment' (meaning...?), food (everywhere) and transport. I'm not too clear about locations of fitness centers; Cui Ming Yuan, near Green Lake (Cui Hu), has views, at least on upper floors - oh yeah, there is at least one, rather upscale, hotel on Cui Hu with a fitness center and pool...actually, Cui Ming Yuan is upscale, but I doubt if it will cost as much as 12,000-18,000/mo.

Entertainment meaning- a nice place to walk around and enjoy the city. My wife and I enjoy being outside, exersise, running, going to coffee shops and restaurants.
I will look into the Green Lake area. Does anyone know of a local company that handles serviced apartments or has any ideas of specific properties? It is difficult to find online.
