Feeling weak could also be thyroid.

For the smoking at work and broken machines, you can go ahead and make a complaint yourself.

@jcts40, sounds very similar to my experience for the first year in China. I was eating a good balanced diet and plenty of fruit but was frequently very weak, depressed and on edge. Went back to USA to visit my family and after a battery of blood tests found i had severe vitamin C deficiency. Took vitamin c for a while and quickly felt better eating fruit in USA. Syptoms quickly returned after returning to China despite eating a ton of fruit. I now take 250mg of vitamin C daily and have felt great for the past 3 years. Also quickly found that to much vitamin C can cause kidney stones.

OP. You say you have lost weight.
Is this planned?
Is it because you are doing more exercise (walking, riding a bike instead of a car)?
Or is it because you are not eating/lost interest in food?

How are you feeling generally? Happy, blue?

If diet is the concern, there are countless open markets all over the city with an unlimited variety of fresh meat, fruit, vegetables, legumes, and anything else you could imagine! There are entire slaughtered pigs that they cut up every morning, the Muslims sell fresh beef, there is seafood, etc. There is an abundance of almost every food you could imagine, and it is much fresher than the Western supermarkets.

Also, stay hydrated, as you need more water at higher altitudes. Get enough rest, get some exercise, etc. Maybe get a health check too just to make sure?

Odd about the Vitamin C - can't understand why fruits in China would have less of it than fruits everywhere else. Anyway, I don't know of any evidence to suggest that ordinary Chinese suffer from Vitamin C deficiency (exceptions might be the very poor), so why should foreigners here?

wash your fruit and veg. they get washed in any water available, including the panlong river (seen it) and agrichemicals in cluding pesticide residue. oraganophosphate poinsing can make you feel weak and some people react more than othet

Finally, don't forget Kunming is at 2km altitude. Thinner air up here - which adds to feelings of malaise, lethargy, etc.
