Hey Ladies and Gents,

I'm applying for teaching jobs, hoping to come to Kunming in September. All potential employers are seem to insist on face to face interviews. How will I work stuff out with visas? Will I have to go to Kunming as a tourist then make a return trip to Hong Kong to change to a working visa? I'm an EU citizen.

How much do I need to get paid in a month to survive in Kunming?

Please tell me lots of cool stuff about Kunming and Yunnan. I know very little.

the ideal situation is to get hired, sign the contract and get the visa before leaving your home country. you can have an interview on skype. there's no need to be face to face. if they insist, try to talk them into sorting everything out from home. it's a hassle to come here on a tourist visa and then have to convert it. and also there's a risk that the school might be shady and not give you a visa once you get here.
