Tomorrow the Bird Bar (鸟吧) in Dali will celebrate its seventh birthday - which makes it something like 40 in Dali years.

Since opening in April 2000, the Bird Bar has grown to include a guesthouse and one of the nicer courtyards in old Dali. In those years, the Bird has become a popular stop for travelers and locals, Chinese and foreigners, attracting a varied clientele and hosting its share of parties and pool tournaments.

Tuesday night's party will feature music by Kunming's DJ Kris and drunken firedancing by Grandma Dali. There is no cover charge for the event, which starts at sundown.
