The other thing that may be useful is a pressure cooker. To cook food before blending, especially meat. Some locals are afraid of pressure cookers, especially after the Boston incident. This is unwarranted.
You can now buy the ones that work with magnetic induction hobs. There are also those that are free standing electric, but I can't seem to find a new one with icons on it, only hanzi.
The advantages of the pressure cooker include:
- completely tenderizes meat, this makes blending much simpler.
- less water means the nutrients that boil out are caught in a more usable quantity of soup.
- bones can be almost dissolved, giving lots of calcium in the soup.
- and of course, energy and time saving.
So, what juice is Jeff drinking? But cheers mate.
Never mind the mafia, what about the rest of us?
One problem with the free market is that it is possible to disrupt a local market, even to bankrupt it, based on the excessive actions of a few, or even one.
I would suggest that if any students start quoting 90 rmb per hour, we can politely suggest that is where the student should go. That is being polite, and not compromising and dropping price.
I have the same problem. From what I have seen, there are only a few ways to meet people and make friends.
This week, huzzar!, someone is organising tequila bowling. See classifieds for that one.
Other than that, unless you regularly haunt one of the bars, or haunt a church (no way), go to Toastmasters, or find work.
I avoid English corners as I get a lot of friends who want something. Unless the English corner has a lot of expats.
I too would like to find more ways to meet people. It would be nice to know if there are any 'clubs'/regular gatherings out there.
The batteries are only one part of the system that may need maintenance. More parts more chance of failure. Hi tech, more chance of failure.
The batteries are probably going to be the most reliable part of the system.
If you have access to fast running water I would also go for a water wheel generator. Much more consistent power than wind, and is 24 hours, unlike solar. No batteries required.
From a website point of view.
If it is a medical assistance website then them must cover thier asses. If there is one or two counties in Yunnan that are hight risk, and they have to classify all of Yunnan as a single zone... Well what would you do?
A reasonable choice of lumber that has improved over time. Fancy hardwoods like walnut, and mahogany are in abundance. There are some plywood and rubber-wood boards available. There are also some kiln dried imported softwoods and merbao available. Some of the lumber is very green, so look for the kiln dried if you need stable timbers.
Echo everything said by others.
Breakfast great and the serve from 8am. Most other places say 9am and they still are not ready.
Sandwiches are cheap 22-32, and really packed full of filling. We got some sandwiches for a day out, the only mistake I made was ordering two, as this was too much. These are seriously good sangars, and they are wrapped in alu foil.
In fairness to Metro, they are a wholesalers, and not really a supermarket. Hence the need for a card, which can be got around.
They have improved in the year I have been away. They now carry a more consistent range of imported foodstuffs and they also seem to have sorted out the mported milk supply.
They have a wider range of electrical appliances now, there is a coice of more than one toast. There is also a better range of seasonal non foods, like clothes, shoes, garden furniture and camping gear.

发布者Blobbles, if there are not trees, you may be able to make out farmers routes on Google Earth. You can sometimes.
If you have personal GPS you could also check progress by pre-defining lat-long from Google Earth before you leave home and write them on a print out.
Just an idea.
