Forums > Living in Kunming > Student Visa Crackdown

Today I was denied my student visa extension. This would have been my third semester with this school.

Of the 3 students in the interview at the PSB, 2 of us were denied for the same reason.

The reason was NOT, as one one expect, working on a student visa or insufficient Chinese level or anything else but for having travelled during the school term last semester. I took a few 2-4 day trips to different cities around Yunnan, which they had record of from registering my passport at hotels.

SO

Be careful, if you're on a student visa, try to avoid registering your passport with hostels and hotels when you travel. I guess there's always couchsurfing.

Now I have to move to another city to study or switch to a work visa.

Forums > Living in Kunming > where to find + contact lenses?

Please refrain from saying "taobao" or "online". I'm aware of the existence of the internet.

Please do not post on this thread unless you are answering my question, which is below.

You can start your own thread to post your funny puns or insight into how you don't really need contacts with whatever new-age remedy or ancient chinese remedy or whatever.

Without further ado:

I'm trying to find a place in Kunming that sells "+" prescription contact lenses. I have been to dozens of shops, but all of them only have "-" prescription contact lenses, which are for myopic (near-sighted) people.

I am hyperopic (far-sighted), so instead of having a "-" sign in front of my prescription, there is a "+" sign.

SO here is the question:

Have you seen any positive prescription contact lenses in Kunming? If so, please respond and let me know where.

If not, no need for you to comment.
Thanks!

Nice, James and Jordan! Great article. So grateful to James for all the work he puts in. For those who are interested in urban gardening, I would ask that chemical insecticides and pesticides not be used, as they kill bees, which are the cornerstone of a healthy natural environment.

Lovely restaurant with top-notch service and fantastic food. I love all the beets, avocados, brussels sprouts, asparagus, quinoa, and tempeh. At first glance of their new menu I was overjoyed to see so much deliciousness, then nearly passed right out from elation when I noticed most of it is vegan! In all seriousness though I can't say enough about how wonderful this place is. Highly highly recommend!

Best pizza in town. Slice of Heaven's a close second, and a better value on their 20kuai pizza Fridays, but overall taste and selection goes to Lost Garden, hands down. I went there for the 3rd or 4th time for the pizza night last week. We sat on their roof terrace, which has been re-done very nicely since the last time I was there. The service was reasonable, and the waitresses even spoke some English! On a previous visit I had a pumpkin soup and a baked pasta, both delicious and well-presented. Anecdote: I was there once on a cold day a couple of months ago and the foreign manager (owner?) made my friend and I hot toddies upon request, even though they're not on the menu, and they were pretty much perfect. I have nothing negative to say about this place.
