Forums > Travel Yunnan > visa turnaround possible at vietnam border? I don't think Hekou is changing anytime soon, so this over six month old info should still be good. Answer is: No.
It's physically possible to just exit China and walk back downstairs and re-enter without even crossing the bridge to the Vietnam side. However, last time I asked if it was possible to do this, and the answer seemed to be "no." The actual answer was "go get a visa from a travel agency in town" to my couple of attempts at asking. So, I assume they still won't let you out without a Viet visa. This was not an issue for me as I already got one in Kunming.
If you're not opposed to staying a night in Hekou, you could try to exit-reenter. Maybe it works. If it doesn't, you just pay the same 400rmb to some travel agency in town for a Viet visa and then cross. But make sure you got a few days left.
Forums > Living in Kunming > What is the pay for modeling? If you care about the rmb or feel injustice was done and feel punitive, then show up with your foreign coworker, their children, and your daughter to the photo studio and demand compensation, or threaten to do so after haranguing your Chinese coworker.
If you don't need the rmb, just chalk this up another China learning experience. Inform you're foreign coworker of how their children were exploited. Then tell your Chinese coworker to stay the f*** away from all foreign kids.
Either way, take the kids for some ice cream. Gompo's right, Dairy Queen is a better choice.
Forums > Travel Yunnan > Which van is better; a New WULING or used JINBEI? Sleep diagonal; get a couple more inches or ten cm. Carry two spare tires; all kinds of bolts or razor sharp rocks on Yunnan back roads. Minivans are pretty high on theft list as they are quite useful and easy to flip. But since you'll be sleeping in the van, your theft chances lessen.

Government undertaking aims to flush Dianchi clean
发布者I just rode to the intersect where the pretty clean water hits the panlongjiang. By the time the water past the 2nd ring road, it was already kind of brown and mucky, and by the 1st ring road, it was worse. I wonder if it will be any cleaner and Dianchi by the time it reaches it.
Also, you can see the nearby shell of the fake waterfall being constructed.
