Strange that holding students to a certain standard isn't really an expectation in undergrad. Definitely wasn't my experience when I studied (which was a long time ago, granted). It seems like degrees in general have been watered down over the last 20-30 years. It's a shame.

I believe Tonyaod has it right. It's more about the business than the lunch and it shows that you have a certain standing if you can order a large meal. I don't think it's good to be wasteful, but it's more about the show than the food in this case.
