It's OK. Been a member there since they opened a few years back. Most of their better trainers have moved on. They have a pretty good variety of weights and strength training equipment as well as a dozen or so running machines, some stationary bikes and stair climbers. The equipment, especially the ellipticals, is showing some wear. They also have an indoor bike racing setup with about 20 bikes and a big screen. It's pretty popular. Mornings and early afternoons aren't too crowded, but late afternoons and evenings can be quite busy. You can find yourself waiting for stations or a shower. Locker room is pretty safe for storing valuables. Haven't heard of any thefts. Plenty of smoke in there, though, as the staff and management refuse to enforce the no smoking policy. There's another.newer gym in the GINGKO building that might be worth checking out. Haven't been there myself. You can access it through the tunnel that runs between the 2 buildings. Entry is on the left.

My wifes' gym closed abruptly one day. When she went there, the manager told her the gym was being replaced by a restaurant(same owners). Sorry, no refund, don't want to hear your complaints. When she refused to leave, they offered to give her free dinners as long as she went away. However as more gym members arrived and were equally displeased with the offer of a discount card as compensation for their gym memberships, she took advantage of the situation and got on the phone and called 2 local TV stations, channels 2 and 6. The manager saw this and quickly got on the phone with the owners. By the time the TV folks showed up, the manager was all smiles and dishing out full membership refunds as well as free dinners. The TV folks did a short story which was aired. She was the heroine of the gym patrons and the talk of all her friends and family.
My wife really enjoys righting wrongs and bringing cheats to account for their misdeeds. She has studied Chinese law, is well spoken and has some good contacts. I have watched her "fix" several of these situations and have been very impressed by her actions and her ability to mobilize people to do the "right" thing. If any of you would like some assistance or a spokesperson, shoot us an email and I will forward your information on to her. You can also try the Kunming City Government Hotline 12315.
BTW-The restaurant closed within a few months,...due to poor management I would guess, but perhaps due to some bad press.
Do you think the cage smashers have some pretty good connections with the Kunming city government? They get paid to tear down the old cages and then get paid again to install the new jail bars. Really seems like a racket to me. Lots of money to be made on this deal!
