I vote for Tsinghua Bookstore just outside of Yunnan Shifan Daxue. Also I've ordered books on dangdang.com and amazon.cn without any problems.

Forums > Study > thoughts on study at KCELC?

A quick update. The school I studied at changed over to KCELC last semester, and is now their Beichen Campus. At the end of the semester the school said they paid a considerable sum of money to KCELC for my one year student visa/tuition. This semester I want to change schools, and that KCELC owes me one free semester of study.

A person from the North campus went to the main campus with my photo and information, and they flat out lied to her and said they had never met me. Yeah, and of course they gave the usual thing that they will cancel my student visa and I would have one week to leave the country, and could never return to China.

meh, KCELC sure is something... not quite sure what though.

There is KIY(Korean school in the north). I'm not exactly sure what classes they have for younger kids. I know middle school and high school kids can pick to have more Chinese classes or English classes. I can ask tomorrow or Friday..

After you've gone their once you can just show/use the receipt next time. The first time I went someone just gave me their old receipt.

Seems strange to me. The only reason that I know of requiring someone to "renew" their student visa like this is if they change schools. Is your original residence permit/visa through Yunnan Nationalities University?

Also look at the roads that were just recently redone. In the north they aren't even a year old and the top layer is rapidly decaying. When the holes get big enough to do serious damage to small cars they just put a traffic cone in it....

If it's banned for industrial use doesn't that mean there are some pretty nasty heavy metals in the water? Why would they allow shrimp to be fished in the past? Do they want people to get cancer or something?

Cheese tasted great. Much better than other pizza joints.



Excellent salad bar. Hamburgers are usually ok. The fancier dishes were a little lacking.

Giving it a 4 stars for the salad bar. If you were going there for "fine dining" then probably best to go somewhere else.

The store also has some nice imported food(though obviously Metro is cheaper for some things). The freshly baked goods are nice too.



Seems to be pretty hit or miss. First time I went there the pizza and hamburgers were great. 2nd time the pizza was terrible, and the hamburger was ok. 3rd time the pizza was ok, but people were smoking inside by the time we left. Guess the no smoking policy is not enforced.



Not bad. Pretty much what you would expect, but expensive for China.



Expensive, but decent bread. Other places are better, but not bad if you're in a hurry.
