There is a notice about "Common Financial Scam Reported Throughout China"
Notice on US Embassy Beijing website:
beijing.usembassy-china.org.cn/02132015u.html
"The United States Embassy in Beijing is aware of media reports alleging that terrorists may be planning to launch an attack in Kunming, Yunnan Province over the Lunar New Year period. The Embassy has not been able to verify the accuracy of this report."
Found this notice Sat 1:12 AM, Kunming time.
Try finding the area you want to live then find an agent in that area.
I don't know of any agents that provide the kind of service you are looking for. I have seen a real estate program that looked cool, 3D, flying over areas but after checking a half dozen places none were vacant. "Listed but not updated"
Alien: You are so correct, but those names work well as they reflect the name of the place. Besides, most native speakers get it.
Alexez: You are right, modified RAW images can't be saved in RAW format. I use the RAW image for developing and editing and save it to jpg one time never reducing the size. Sometimes I may end up with five or six jpg's before I get what I want. Given there isn't much cost other than my time, this works for me.
I took at least 10K photos each year. I found the best way to keep them in order is to date the folders like today is 150212 (YYMMDD). Then add a few key words: "120803 Golden Temple"
tiger you got it :-) I just pay for the prints and go find another shop. When I find one with a good printer and people who will listen, I use them until they start "helping" me.
With you do big prints you learn how good your lens is. After a jpg has been saved 3 or 4 times, save your money. The big print will not be sharp.

Good for quality, but pricey, hand tools.
Be aware they will push whatever they are selling. Some of the staff have no idea about the technical side of appliances.
I went there to buy a stove. I repeatedly told them I would be using bottled gas. They sold me a stove. When I went to my local gas guy, I learned there are at least three kinds of gas sold. Luckily, B&Q did not deliver as promised. I went back to the store and discovered they had sold me a stove they needed to be hooked up to the gas main. I got my money back.
The sales lady was almost in tears, 没有问题!I don't know if it a safety or design issue, but I would think B&Q would know and care.
Last week had an 8:45am flight.
Subway starts at 9am. I have no idea where to catch an airport express bus. Eight taxis refused to go to the airport. After almost an hour standing on Beijing Lu took a black taxi, this dude drives slower than my mother, 120 yuan.
Flight back was delayed so I learned the subway stops running at 6:10pm.
Getting a taxi back was easy, more taxis than customers. Taxi was 87 yuan including 1o yuan toll, airport to Beichen area. Yes, he took a longer route than necessary.
Kunming imagines being a gateway for international travelers. New airport but hard to get to and from it.
World Class Airport, NOT!
Tonight "Peacock", a performance by Yang Liping (杨丽萍), to begin her world tour, 8pm, 100-1680 yuan at Yunna Haigeng Auditorium.
Saw this lady perform at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, in California, in 1995. Quite a good and interesting show.
I'm going to try to make it.
Not so good. Kimchi had a very sour taste. Other food was nothing to brag about. I don't think I would go back.
This bus station is not located as indicated. It is further North!

发布者Good point. There is a lot of rubber in Banna. Took lovely photos of bamboo forests, then of the bamboo cut down and finally rubber trees. Such a loss.
Yunnan province to advertise in Thanksgiving Day parade
发布者Watching Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, the 石林 float looked pretty good. Lots of pretty young ladies dancing.
I'll take cartoon character balloons, high school bands, dancing and singing over goosestepping missiles and tanks anyday!
Happy Thanksgiving to Americans! Happy Holiday season to all!
China initiates enormous Yangtze water diversion scheme
发布者老子 wrote in 道德经 Of the need for harmony with the Dao. When I read, and tried to understand Daoism, I thought that the teaching was that man needed to be one with what is. I thought this idea was simple, complex and profound. I thought it might mean being in harmony with nature.
China may claim the 道德经 and Daoism as the Way but over the centuries she has often attempted to improve nature for the benefit of man. The ability to muster resources, manpower and fortune, to carve out solutions to perceived problems of mankind is to fail to see the Dao. Damming rivers, leveling mountains, and diverting waters to far off places is not harmonious. When man defies the Dao, balance is no longer maintained.
When balance is destroyed, man will suffer. That is the Dao.
