Hofbrauhaus hardly typical, full of foreign tourists, but I'm sure you know that.
Yes of course I know but it's a must see and sadly still cheaper than an ordinary Chinese restaurant.

i lived in Germany too, and they are certainly not cheaper than Kunming. yes, good beer can be occasionaly cheaper, and so is a falafel wrap or a cereal box in the supermarket, but everything else is not.

It certainly is cheaper in Germany, if you keep service, quality, warranty, safety and customer rights in mind.
But I offer to challenge this statement.
What do you think is cheaper in Kunming than Germany, besides rent, insurance, utilities?
e.g.
Items of equal qualities of daily use. Such as groceries and F&B
I will try to find the item in a German market or shop and post the link.
Some exotic fruits are expensive in Germany but it's unlikely that you would consume them on a daily base.
milk, bread, a meal in a clean safe local restaurant (not using any recycled ingredients). a steak meal in a restaurant that won't give you the 5hits if eaten rare, genuine branded electronic goods (not fake), shoes that don't fall apart when it rains, shirts, to name but a few.
