So the meaning is to celebrate what, change in the weather, bountiful crops? I hope that is relevant today to the Celts of Kunming!

I feel youre contradicting yourself. Didnt you just write that you find it sad when the meaning of important events gets lost? The "why" of halloween is exactly the same as the "why" of Chinese autumn festival. Therefore i say that they are the same. The "what" differs somewhat, not the "why"
Well I've never been too clear on the 'why' of Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival either. I think there was a revolution where they hid secret messages in mooncakes? Not quite sure how people apply the meaning of that festival to their lives today.
The meaning for the Celts was to remember the 'Hallows' (saints) who had already departed the earth?
There will be performances, singing, games prizes etc at Nanya (昆明滇池路569号) on the 26th and 31st, from 7pm - 10pm.
I love it how the lines between forum posts and free advertising get blurred.
Hey Quester, pizza and booze! Is that meaningful enough for you? Why does everything have to have a meaning anyway?
@ Magnifico: I knew someone would like the free booze hahaha.
No matter what I put up, I prefer to use my own name and I prefer to be as complete and straight forward with what I put up. (no fake alias or 2nd account to hint at and start topics about something that allows free advertising down the road).
There is also a Halloween activity going on at the Owen near the North bus station on Saturday evening. I presume there will be one at the Nanya campus too.
Alas Magnifico, the demise of culture: everything comes down only to pizza and booze. Farewell meaning, farewell culture ...
Yep, well said Quester. And you may be right. Maybe Halloween has no relevance here. Valid point.
Parties and celebrations (with pizza & booze or candy & masks) are great, when we know why we are celebrating!
